Teenage Pregnancy And Police Brutality Essay - 1497 Words

My search began when I had to chose something that interested me. Looking at the list of topics on the board of Mr.Murphy’s room everything seemed so cliche and broad. Teen pregnancy, police brutality, heroin- stuff we see everyday and already know or formed views about. I’m so indecisive I did not know what to pick. Everyone else had their topics, and all of them were interesting and slightly meaningful. I had nothing. Then Mr.Murphy said, â€Å"you need to pick something relevant to you, pick a topic you can take away from and use in the future.† I began pondering. Bingo! â€Å"Are children being overly medicated?† This interested me because my father always talked about how when he was a kid he was put on Ritalin for ADHD, and constantly discusses with me his fear for his little brother who is currently being medicated for ADHD. I read one article, and it stated that maybe kids are just being under treated, not overly medicated. That interested me, a nd made me think about my own life. Ever since freshman year I have tried talking to my mom about my depression and going to a therapist. I am currently a senior in highschool and still have yet to receive any treatment. ‘Under treated’ was relatable to not only me but probably many other teens. Before I read further information I already knew that when taking any type of medication for behavior issues users might not like the side effects.
